Where to stay in Davos during Davos week comes down to how much of each day you can give to walking, road checks and the last train home. For back-to-back meetings, stay on or near the Promenade in Davos Platz, the district of the Congress Centre. Davos Dorf suits teams happy to walk about 20 minutes or take the bus each way. Klosters is the usual fallback when Davos is full, 26 to 32 minutes by direct train from Davos Platz on the Swiss national timetable.
The Annual Meeting is listed for 18 to 22 January 2027 at the Congress Centre, according to Davos Klosters tourism as of 22 October 2026. This guide is for the person booking: how the town works that week, what the security controls change, the options outside Davos, and when to commit.
How is Davos laid out for the week?
Davos has two railway stations, Davos Dorf and Davos Platz. The Congress Centre, at Talstrasse 49a in Davos Platz, lies between them, and its operator gives it as a 20 minute walk from each. Regular buses run from the station to the Congress Centre, and the local buses are free with a Davos Klosters guest card.
The Congress Centre's own brochure calls the Promenade the town's main axis, and the week follows it. In the Davos 2027 event planner, 37 of the 53 events that give a street address are on the Promenade, including addresses from earlier editions, as of 22 October 2026.
That shapes the choice more than room size does. Most days are spent moving between the Congress Centre, the hotels and the Houses, often on snow and in shoes not made for it. A base you can walk back to between a morning meeting and an evening reception is worth more than extra space across town, and first-time visitors often underestimate how much of the week happens on foot.
Davos Dorf is closer than the walking time suggests. Trains between the two stations take four minutes on the Swiss national timetable, checked on 22 October 2026 for a weekday in January 2027.
Promenade, Platz, Dorf or Klosters: how the areas compare
| Area | Walk to the Congress Centre | Character | Best for |
|---|---|---|---|
| The Promenade | The Congress Centre sits on it; time depends on the stretch | The town's main axis, where most planner events with a street address sit | Principals with back-to-back meetings and evening events |
| Davos Platz | About 20 minutes from Davos Platz station | The Congress Centre's district, with direct trains towards both Klosters and Filisur | Small teams who want to walk everywhere |
| Davos Dorf | About 20 minutes from Davos Dorf station | The second station, and the stop before Davos Platz for trains from Klosters | Teams happy to walk or ride the bus each morning |
| Klosters | Not walkable | A separate village on the railway from Landquart, with its own station and taxi stand | A base when Davos is full, or for guests with fewer late evenings |
| Davos Wiesen to Filisur | Not walkable | Small villages on the hourly line towards Filisur | Guests with a car or few evening commitments |
| Prättigau to Landquart | Not walkable | Villages and towns on the rail route in from Zurich via Landquart | Late bookings and overflow |
Walking times are the Congress Centre's own figures. Train times come from the Swiss national timetable for Tuesday 19 January 2027, checked on 22 October 2026, and are set out in the table further down.
How do security controls affect where you stay?
The Graubünden cantonal police declare the security zones for each Annual Meeting. As of 22 October 2026 the canton's information site covers only the 2026 edition, so the 2027 zones are not yet published. The 2026 rules are the best guide to what to expect.
In 2026 the police restricted the areas around the Congress Centre, the Congress Hotel, the Hotel Hilton and the Kurpark, the Grandhotel Belvédère, the AlpenGold Hotel, the ice stadium and the Lago heliport with the lake car park. The zones ran from 18:00 on Sunday 18 January to 06:00 on Friday 23 January 2026 at the latest. Hotel guests counted as people with a legitimate reason to enter.
Outside those areas, the canton's FAQ said all other hotels and shops stayed reachable without restriction. Residents inside the zones received badges and vehicle vignettes. The wider effect was on the roads: preventive checks of people, vehicles and luggage on every access route into Davos, and the same FAQ said waiting times could not be ruled out.
For choosing a base, that means three things:
- A place inside or next to a restricted area puts you close to the Congress Centre, but every visitor, delivery and car has to get past the barriers.
- A base outside Davos can mean a check each time you drive in, so build slack into every transfer.
- A base within walking distance takes cars, drivers and road checks out of the daily plan.
Is Klosters or the valley a sensible base?
Yes, if you plan around the trains. On the Swiss national timetable for Tuesday 19 January 2027, Klosters Platz has direct Rhaetian Railway trains to Davos twice an hour in the morning. They take 26 to 32 minutes to Davos Platz and 21 to 25 minutes to Davos Dorf. Klosters is also on the way in from Landquart, so arrivals from Zurich reach it about half an hour before Davos Platz.
Evenings are the constraint. On the same timetable, the last direct train from Davos Platz to Klosters Platz leaves at 22:52. After that, hourly night buses make the trip in 19 minutes. If the principal has dinners most nights, build that into the choice.
Two practical notes from davos.ch: in heavy snowfall, snow chains may be needed from Klosters unless the car has four-wheel drive, and there are taxi stands at the Davos Platz, Davos Dorf and Klosters Platz stations.
The villages along the Landwasser towards Filisur, and the Prättigau towards Landquart, are options when Davos itself is full, at the cost of a longer day.
| From | Train to Davos Platz | Change needed |
|---|---|---|
| Davos Dorf | 4 minutes | No |
| Davos Wiesen | 21 minutes | No |
| Klosters Platz | 26 to 32 minutes | No |
| Filisur | 26 minutes | No |
| Küblis | 46 to 52 minutes | No |
| Landquart | 67 to 74 minutes | No |
| Chur | 86 to 92 minutes | Yes, at Landquart |

Hotel, apartment or chalet, and what changes for a delegation
Hotels are the tightest part of the market that week. In January 2023 the director of the Davos Klosters tourism board said, as reported by swissinfo.ch, that at least 80% of hotel beds were reserved for participants of the Annual Meeting during the week. If your principal is an invited participant, ask about that reserved capacity before anything else.
Companies without a participant allocation often stay in private apartments or chalets. The Congress Centre's 2022 brochure counts more than 6,000 beds in Davos, from simple rooms to five-star hotels and numerous holiday apartments. How the three compare:
- Hotel. A front desk, housekeeping and, at the hotels beside the Congress Centre, a short walk to the sessions. Usually little room to meet privately.
- Apartment. A kitchen, a table for the morning briefing and space for a small team. Check what is included: cleaning, linen, check-in times on a Sunday, parking and a contact for problems at night.
- Chalet. Room to host a dinner or a meeting without booking a venue. Often further out, so plan for cars and drivers.
Whatever you book, confirm that the person letting the property owns it or is entitled to let it for the week.
For a delegation, keep the team in one building or as close together as you can, with one room large enough to meet in each morning. Allocate by schedule rather than seniority alone: the people with the most meetings need the shortest walk. If you bring cars, settle parking early. Davos has a night-time parking ban from 1 November to 30 April, 3 to 7 a.m., on spaces without 24-hour paid parking.
We have worked Davos weeks since 2018, across accommodation, venues, production and guest lists. We place individuals, groups and corporate delegations with verified property owners only. As of October 2026 our range runs from studios on the Promenade about a five-minute walk from the Congress Centre to one to three bedroom apartments in Davos Platz and Davos Dorf, townhouses sleeping up to 24, and apartments in Klosters. Some properties include parking. The range changes every season, so the accommodation page is the place to start; our on-site team is reachable around the clock during the week, and rates are shared on a call.
When should you book accommodation for Davos week 2027?
As soon as the trip is likely. As of 22 October 2026 the dates are listed as 18 to 22 January 2027, and the 2027 security rules are not yet out. Places closest to the Promenade are usually committed first, and larger properties for teams tend to be scarce at any distance.
Three steps help:
- Book the principal's base around their likely schedule first. Support staff and guests can stay further out.
- Ask about cancellation and changes before you sign. Invitations and programmes often move in December and January.
- Recheck the security zones and the timetable once the canton and the railways publish the January details.
If you are still choosing between Davos and Klosters, start from the evenings: where does the principal need to be at 22:00, and how do they get back?
